Moonbin Of K-Pop Band Astro Dies At 25, Police Investigating Cause Of Death

According to the Seoul Gangnam Police, K-pop singer Moonbin was found dead in his Seoul home by his manager on Wednesday, April 19.

According to a press statement from the police, the 25-year-old appears to have committed suicide, and an autopsy is being considered to ascertain the exact cause of death.

“It appears that Moonbin took his own life,” and “We are currently discussing the possibility of an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.”

Moonbin’s death was confirmed by his record label, Fantagio Music, who conveyed their condolences and apologised for the sad news.

“On April 19, Astro member Moonbin suddenly left us to become a star in the sky,” they wrote. “Although we cannot compare our sorrow to the grief that the bereaved families are feeling, losing a beloved son and brother, the Astro members, fellow Fantagio artists, company executives and employees are mourning the deceased in great sadness and shock.”

Astro released their third and most recent studio album, “Drive To The Starry Road,” in May of last year and recently announced the departure of member Rocky, which brings the group to a five-member band.

They affirmed at the same time that the band would continue with five members, with each member also pursuing solo projects.

Prior to his departure, Moonbin was scheduled to perform as part of the two-member Astro sub-unit Moonbin&Sanha at the upcoming Dream Concert.
