Music Lovers Divided Over Sarkodie’s Purchase Of Akwaboah’s ‘LightHouse’ Album For GHC3000

Sarkodie has recently garnered attention online for a rather controversial reason.

At the album listening party for his former signee Akwaboah’s new album, LightHouse, Sarkodie purchased the album for a mere GHC 3,000. This surprising move has left many Ghanaians astounded, considering Sarkodie’s status as one of the wealthiest artistes not only in Ghana but also on the entire African continent.

This purchase has inadvertently reinforced the perception of Sarkodie being stingy, a label that has been ‘tightly’ associated with him. Some individuals feel that this action has further solidified this notion.

The exclusive listening party for the ‘LightHouse’ album took place at the SOHO Bar in Accra’s Airport on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. The event was filled with renowned personalities from Ghana’s music and showbiz industry, including Kwaisey Pee, Sarkodie himself, Nabil Alhassan, KOD, and Andy Dosty.

During the auction of the album, Sarkodie, who had previously signed Akwaboah to his SarkCess Music label and collaborated with him on numerous hit songs, acquired the album in the form of a pen drive with a headset for GhC3,000.

The rapper commended Akwaboah’s strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. Additionally, he expressed his admiration for the album’s exceptional song quality.

“Akwaboah is a very talented musician and I have been a fan of his for many years…I am very proud of him for releasing this album. It is a great piece of work and I highly recommend it to everyone.”

Scheduled for release on November 24, 2023, the ‘LightHouse’ album comprises 11 tracks, including collaborations with renowned artists such as Sarkodie on “Asikyere,” Kwabena Kwabena on “My Darling,” and Strongman on “Odo Do Me.”
