Mzbel Reveals Why The Media Painted Her Black During Her Prime

Mzbel has expressed her concern that her brand suffered a decline due to the media’s tendency to exploit the negative publicity that surrounded her during her heyday.

In an interview with JoyPrime, she claimed that these reports had a negative effect on her reputation and caused her to lose commercial prospects and relationships with organizations.

Mzbel claims that the media frequently focused on unfavorable and contentious articles about her, which damaged her reputation and makes it challenging for her to form alliances with businesses and organizations that might not want to be connected with someone who is viewed as controversial.

“It’s really broken me business-wise because most brands don’t want to be associated with somebody who is being negatively controversial. Anytime Mzbel is trending, it’s something negative. So, it really affected me, and sometimes when I ran into trouble, instead of the media reporting me in their favor, they made it seem as if I deserved it.”

In 2005, following an unfortunate incident during a performance at the esteemed Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), she bravely shared her grievance. Regrettably, she was subjected to an attack by students during the event. Shockingly, certain media outlets, rather than expressing empathy towards her, chose to assign blame and criticize her choice of attire.

“They made it look like it’s because of the way I dressed, and I deserved it,” she said.

This contributed hugely to her missing out on business opportunities and partnerships with companies that were initially interested in contracting her.

Mzbel who recently welcomed her second child, revealed in a recent interview that dating a married man who was also her boss opened doors for her and turned her into what she is now.

In essence, Mzbel revealed that the married man with whom she was involved played a pivotal role in discovering, fostering, and motivating her to pursue a career in music, ultimately leading to her current status as a well-known artist.

During a recent appearance on Angel TV, Mzbel expressed her belief that declining her boss’ advances due to his marital status would have hindered her success. When asked about her experiences or knowledge of workplace romances, Mzbel shared her perspective.

“I have heard plenty of stories on office romance. I am even an example. When I started my career at the Hush Hush studios, had it not been for office romance, I don’t know where I would be today.

“The owner of the job and I were in an amorous relationship. It was through our relationship that he found out that I had an interest in dance and entertainment. He encouraged me to do music and I heeded to his advice and guidance. See where I am today. If I rejected his proposal with the excuse that he is a married man, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
