NDC Will Punish Corrupt Akufo-Addo Officials In The Next Government – Sherry Ayitey

Ghanaian biochemist, politician, and women’s activist Sherry Ayittey has promised that the party’s next government will take severe action against any Akufo-Addo administration official found guilty of corruption.

Ms. Ayitey made her announcement at the party’s 31st anniversary celebration in Ningo-Gangan, Assin North Constituency, Central Region, ahead of the scheduled by-election on Tuesday, June 27.

The First National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairperson said, “Those who need to go to prison would go to prison; those whose property needs to be confiscated by the state to pay for the money they have stolen would be done… The NPP government has borrowed more than twice what we did, and the sad aspect is that the government has failed to explain to Ghanaians what they have used the money for… Our roads, water, schools, and unemployment, among others, are not the best, so what are they using the money for?”

She claimed that since the NDC had done more for the country’s progress than any other political party in the Fourth Republic, the party’s focus was on regaining power to restore hope for the country. She said that the party’s performance in office was unbeatable in the areas of healthcare, the economy, education, energy, and water.

“We have performed better during our tenure in office than our opponents, who have used propaganda to throw the dust into the eyes of the people. Therefore, we have every reason to celebrate the party’s 31 years in existence. We have a better record than others.

“To the Ghanaian people and the NPP, I can say without any fear of condemnation that there is no political party as successful as the NDC… I say without fear of contradiction that, there is no political party that has contributed to the economic, social, and democratic transformation of the country more than the NDC,” she emphasised.

According to Ms. Ayitey, the Akufo-Addo administration is deliberately destroying companies held by people who aren’t NPP supporters, and its policies are taking the country down the wrong path.

To that end, she asked Ghanaians to support the NDC in the upcoming general elections on December 7, 2024, so that the party may fight tirelessly to promote wealth for everybody, provide jobs, and eliminate financial hardship.
