Nigerian Prankster Remanded In Prison Over ‘Disturbing Content’
Popular Nigerian prankster and content creator, Maruf Abdullahi, alias Trinity Guy was ordered to be detained at the Agodi Correctional Center on Monday by a family court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State, for alleged sexual exploitation of a 10-year-old girl in a popular video clip.
The comedian was kept behind bars until Tuesday, July 11, when the matter will be heard . The minor’s parents, Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife, Rofiat, 29, who were also charged with two charges of conspiracy and one count each of sexual abuse and exploitation, were also remanded by the court.
The defendants’ argument that the court lacked jurisdiction was rejected by the magistrate, P.O. Adetuyibi, who noted that a duplicate case file had already been filed at the state ministry of justice in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Reacting to the development, Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, using his verified Instagram page, @realyomifabiyi, said the prankster should be cautioned and advised on proper procedures.
“He sought parental consent; he never exposed his sexual organ to the child; he never sought to derive sexual pleasure at any time, and it was a skit/prank.
“All we want is a safer society for our children and ourselves. Intentions are what both the law and universe judge in every seen and unseen action,” his statement read in part.
