Nii Soul Of Mentor Fame Drops Debut Album, ‘Forecast Into The Past’

Joseph Ankrah, commonly known as Nii Soul of TV3’s Mentor fame, has released his debut album titled ‘Forecast into the Past.’

The 13-track album features a variety of artistes, including Gasmilla, Fameye, Bright of Buk Bak, and Rhyme Sonny, amongst others. It also includes previously released songs like ‘Wahala No Dey Finish’ and ‘Mata.’

In explaining the album title which sounds grammatically wrong, Nii said, “I just wanted to find a way of saying that I recognise where I’m from, where I am and where I am going. So even though I am looking ahead I still recognise what I have been through and what it has made me and how far it has brought me, and the lessons I’ve learnt and where I believe this whole journey is taking me to,” he said.

Although he labels his songs as Afro fusion, he insists that the message is gospel, and that’s what he considers more important.

This appears to be Nii’s response to his critics who say he has abandoned gospel for secular music especially considering the number of secular artistes he’s featured on this album.

The singer finished in second place in the second season of TV3’s reality show, Mentor. He was known as Joe in that contest. After that, he contested under the name Nii in yet another reality show known as Project Fame, West African edition.

Nii is a talented musician who can easily switch between many musical genres and styles when the occasion calls for it. He is well known for his vocal power.

Before switching to gospel music, he was known for songs such as ‘Monife’ and ‘Sunshine.’
