Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, has been chosen to serve as the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 election, with 61.43% of all votes cast being valid.
Though it was anticipated that Bawumia would triumph by a wider margin, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong delivered the ‘showdown‘ he promised.
Assin Central MP Ken Agyapong finished in second place with 37.41%. Francis Addai Nimoh finished last with 0.41%, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto came in third with 0.76%.
Bawumia earlier expressed his belief that his success in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries is dependent on divine intervention.
Furthermore, the present Vice President of Ghana advised his supporters to remain composed and patiently await the outcome of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries. When questioned about his thoughts on the highly competitive primaries, the Vice President stated that it necessitates patience, adding, “But I pray I am the one.”
These remarks were made during a press conference following his participation in Saturday’s voting process. Given his extensive experience as the running mate to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the past four elections, Dr. Bawumia is widely regarded as the frontrunner to lead the NPP in a crucial upcoming election.
