NPP’s Sammy Awuku Drops Hint About Asamoah Gyan’s Political Future

Sammy Awuku, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Akuapem North, has hinted at the potential political aspirations of Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan.

During an appearance on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Awuku emphasized that Gyan should not be underestimated, suggesting that he possesses innovative ideas capable of revitalizing Ghana’s struggling sports sector.

Awuku’s remarks came in the wake of Gyan’s presence at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s recent address on Wednesday, February 7.

When questioned about the significance of Gyan’s involvement, Awuku refrained from providing specific details but advised individuals to keep an eye on Gyan, implying that noteworthy developments may arise.

“Watch out for him. Dr. Bawumia likes people with great ideas. He is his good friend, and so watch out for him; you will soon hear from him,” Awuku remarked.

Describing Gyan as an “iconic figure” with substantial ideas, Awuku encouraged the former Black Stars captain to consider delving into policy and politics, suggesting that his retirement from football could open up new opportunities in the political arena.

“He may never know. Now that he is on retirement and resting, he should come and show his prowess in politics,” he added.
