‘Obsessed’ Woman Stalking Harry Styles Jailed After Sending 8,000 Cards To Singer In Less Than A Month

A 35-year-old woman identified as Myra Carvalho has been sentenced to 14 weeks in prison and received a 10-year restraining order after pleading guilty to stalking Harry Styles.

Carvalho sent the former One Direction star 8,000 cards in less than a month, causing serious alarm and distress.

She is banned from attending any event where Styles is performing and cannot contact him directly or indirectly. Additionally, she must not enter a specific area of north west London as part of the court’s orders.

“This defendant has travelled from Brazil, and has frequently and to an extremely intense nature [harassed Styles] by sending over 8,000 cards and describing sexual urges towards him. She has a partner [in Brazil]… It also causes great concern to the complainant. She hand-delivered letters and wedding cards.”

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Carvalho had expressed “sexual urges” towards the 30-year-old actor and singer, Styles.

Carvalho’s lawyer, Clementine Simon, informed the court that her doctor in Brazil believed she was experiencing a “manic episode” and questioned her ability to enter a plea. Surprisingly, Carvalho’s parents, who were present at the plea and trial preparation hearing, were unaware of her travel to the country.

They were visibly emotional as they witnessed their daughter’s appearance via video link from HMP Bronzefield, dressed in a black coat and gloves. Carvalho only spoke to confirm her name during the brief hearing and did not indicate a plea.

Prosecutors revealed that out of the 8,000 cards sent by Carvalho, some were wedding cards. Additionally, two letters were personally delivered to Mr. Styles’ address after Carvalho had been staying at a backpacker hostel in Earls Court, west London since December.

In January, Highbury Corner magistrates’ court heard that Styles was left feeling “shaken” due to Carvalho’s harassment. She was informed that her actions were causing alarm and distress.
