Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Papa Owusu Ankomah, evaded the ‘onslaught’ of demonstrators who picketed at his office on Friday, September 20, 2023.
The London version of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration took a dramatic turn after the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) allegedly organized ‘anti-protesters’ to thwart the efforts of the demonstrators and cause disaffection for them in the eyes of the Western media.
Several Ghanaian citizens residing in the United Kingdom took part in the #OccupyJulorBiHouse protest outside the High Commission of Ghana in London but things did not go the way they envisaged.
A video circulating on Twitter depicts the gathering of Ghanaians, some of whom are waving Ghana flags, while others sing patriotic songs using megaphones and portable sound systems. The protesters consist of individuals of various ages.
However, Papa Owusu Ankomah, seemingly taken aback by the fervour of the demonstration, opted to avoid direct engagement with the protesters rather than engaging in dialogue. A video captured him departing the scene, flanked by law enforcement officers.
Despite the persistence of the demonstrators to address them, he refused and left.
