Partey Injury: Mikel Arteta Confirms He Is Out With Muscle Injury

Thomas Partey’s recurring injury has resurfaced once more, as confirmed by his manager Mikel Arteta.

The talented Ghanaian international will unfortunately be out of action for a few weeks due to a muscle injury. Partey’s absence was clearly felt in Arsenal’s recent 2-1 Champions League triumph over Sevilla, and it was later revealed that the injury occurred during a training session, further highlighting the significance of his setback.

Arsenal supporters had eagerly anticipated Partey’s swift return to the field, but Arteta’s official statement has dashed those hopes for the time being.

Speaking ahead of their Premier League match against Sheffield United, Arteta revealed, “He’s got a muscle injury, and we are expecting him to be out for a few weeks.”

The exact duration of Partey’s absence remains uncertain as further tests are being conducted. Arteta explained that the injury occurred in training, stating, “He picked up that injury in a training session with the last kick of the ball before Sevilla, so very unfortunate.”

In September 2023, Arteta told the media Thomas Partey could be out for several weeks after he reported picking up a muscular injury during training.

Thomas Partey has been a consistent starter in all three of Arsenal’s opening Premier League fixtures this season, with manager Mikel Arteta deploying him in the right-back position. He, however, missed Arsenal’s dramatic 3-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday, September 4, 2023, at the Emirates Stadium.

“According to his club, the player picked up an injury in training and could be on the sidelines for a while, however, the Black Stars medical teams is monitoring the situation.”

Another statement added: “He sustained a groin injury during training on Thursday, August 31, 2023. He is currently unavailable, as Club Doctors predict he’s likely to be out for a couple of weeks.”

Arteta then confirmed the absence before the match on Sunday, saying: “We need a few more tests – he felt something in training.”
