During the Porials Pitch event organized by Snapchat Influencer Dulcie Boateng at the Accra Mall, one of the Mitch brothers was arrested over the weekend.
The event, which was a sales exhibition, attracted a large crowd of Ghanaians eager to purchase various products. However, according to reports, the event was marred by police interference.
Nana Mitch and others were apprehended for allegedly selling products that had not been registered and approved by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
According to ameyawdebrah.com which first broke the news, the arrest took place after an investigation conducted by Ghanaian investigative journalist Akwasi Koranteng, along with officials from the Pharmacy Council, Ghana (PCG), and the FDA.
They discovered that Nana Mitch was selling “S:13 by MB,” a lip gloss suspected to be imported from China, without FDA approval.
A total of 13 people were arrested for selling unapproved products during the event and have been granted bail while investigations are ongoing.
The FDA has repeatedly warned against the use and sale of unapproved products and has urged Ghanaians to adhere to regulatory standards.
This incident should serve as a reminder to Ghanaian influencers to be cautious about the products they promote and market, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements.
