Auntie Muni, the celebrity Waakye seller known widely in Ghana, is dead. She was seventy-two (72)

The regrettable tragedy happened on Wednesday, January 3, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra after a short illness.

In an interview on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday morning, the family formally revealed the devastating news to Asaase Radio. Arafat, Auntie Muni’s son, has announced that her funeral will happen in Tamale today according to Islamic norms.

“Mummy was sick; she was complaining of leg pain. So we took her to the SNNIT Hospital … there was complications, so she asked that they discharge her.”

“When they discharged her, after two days, we realised she was still not feeling well. So we rushed her to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for medical attention and this morning at 3am she passed away,” Arafat said.
