Prince Tagoe Detained For Allegedly Defrauding George Boateng of $40K

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded ex-Hearts of Oak player, Prince Tagoe, into police custody until January 4, 2023, for allegedly defrauding Black Stars assistant coach, George Boateng of $40,000.

When Prince Tagoe appeared before His Honour, Samuel Bright Acquah, the accused pleaded not guilty.

Per the report, George Boateng wanted a 44 Lexus, and Prince Tagoe promised to import the vehicle for $40,000. On January 8, 2021, George Boateng gave the specified sum to Prince Tagoe, and during a phone call, he acknowledged receiving it.

But Tagoe failed to deliver the car before March ended as promised. He is reported to have contacted Boateng to ask for two more weeks to deliver the car but never did. The car was not delivered when Boateng arrived in Ghana on April 27. Tagoe informed Boateng that he utilized the money for a personal emergency.

Tagoe, over the course of investigations, acknowledged responsibility for defrauding Boateng of the said amount, and promised to repay the money for two weeks but never did leading to his arrest and subsequent detention.
