Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, MP for Builsa South, has requested an investigation into claims made by the ex-Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, that high-ranking members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including those in Jubilee House, are involved in galamsey.
According to him, the fact that they come from a former member of the NPP government cannot be disregarded.
In a twitter post sighted by Tru News Report, Clement Apaak said “We demand an investigation into allegations by Prof. Boateng, a former NPP Minister, then head of the anti-galamsey fight, that ‘People in the NPP, people in government and people in the Jubilee House are engaged in galamsey.’ Galamsey is a crime and those involved must be punished.”
Former Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister and Chair of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, revealed in an interview that members of the ruling New Patriotic Party and the Akufo-Addo government plotted to force him out of office so that they would be able to easily engage in illegal mining (galamsey).
According to Professor Frimpong-Boateng, the missing excavator story was fabricated by his own party and other government officials engaging in galamsey to get him out of office.
The statement triggers Clement Apaak’s request to investigate the issue.
