Reactions As Afua Asantewaa Slams Internet Trolls Who Attack Celebs
Afua Asantewaa has sparked controversy among internet users after criticizing Ghanaians for attacking celebrities using inexpensive data bundles.
The Ghanaian journalist, known for her recent attempt at the longest singing marathon and awaiting verification from Guinness World Records, expressed her disappointment with Ghanaians engaging in offensive behaviour on social media, particularly towards celebrities.
On her Twitter account, Afua Asantewaa highlighted the irony of some individuals using low-cost internet data to spread hate online, only to seek assistance from their targets when they encounter them in person. She deemed such actions absurd, emphasizing that these online bullies can easily be exposed.
She wrote, “Too many people expose their ignorance on social media. They comment anyhow with 1gh data and DM [direct message] or meet you in person, begging for money or job. Luck [lack] of knowledge, many shall perish. They don’t know their contact or email used to register their ghost can easily be tracked.”
Ghanaians were deeply offended by her presentation and promptly expressed their views. Certain individuals reminded her that it was these very limited data packets that they had used to wholeheartedly support her during her singathon endeavor.
Meanwhile, others expressed their disappointment with her statement, perceiving it as condescending.
