Why Did You Hide GWR Verdict From Us- Ghanaians Descend On Afua For Allegedly Hiding Singathon Verdict
Afua Asantewaa has faced a barrage of criticism from Ghanaians on social media for allegedly concealing her disqualification from the Guinness World Records (GWR).
Before the GWR’s public announcement on Twitter, it was widely speculated that Afua had already received a professional email notifying her of her dissatisfaction, as per their standard procedure.
To appease her curious fans, Afua opted to expedite the validation process by paying for a priority review.
However, GWR, having already started the validation process, refunded her money and informed her that the process was already underway.
Ultimately, the GWR officially declared on their Twitter page that Afua Asantewaa’s sing-a-thon attempt had not garnered success with the general public.
This perceived lack of transparency has led to criticism from some Ghanaians, with lawyer and Founding Editor of GhanaCelebrities.com, Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri, accusing her of dishonesty for not informing the public about the outcome of her Guinness World Record attempt.
“Many Ghanaians are dishonest. You publicly enter a competition and ask Ghanaians to come and support you or come along with you. You submitted your competition for review to GWR and this was disqualified but you kept mute—that’s dishonesty,” he wrote.

Sharing the unfortunate news of Afua’s disqualification, Tru News Report, your most reliable online news portal, mentioned that The Guinness World Records mentioned on their official page on Twitter on Friday, February 23, 2024, that they have rejected her attempt after reviewing evidence of the 126 hours and 52 minutes of sing-a-thon.
“Unfortunately Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts,” the response by GWR said.
