Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ Earns Her First Ever Oscar Nomination

Barbadian singer, actress, and businesswoman Robyn Rihanna Fenty NH popularly known as Rihanna has earned her first-ever Oscar nomination with her song “Lift Me Up” in the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

On Tuesday January 24, it was revealed that the Barbadian beauty had received a nomination in the Best Original Song category for her heartfelt tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman ‘Lift Me Up’ from the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Rihanna, along with filmmaker Ryan Coogler, Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, and Nigerian singer Tems, wrote the song, which is her first original work in a long time.

Rihanna’s primary rivals seem to be Lady Gaga, who contributed to Top Gun: Maverick with “Hold My Hand,” and Diane Warren, who contributed “Applause” from Tell It Like It Is. Warren has been nominated for this award a record 14 times. As of now, Rihanna has seven Grammys to her name. It’s her first time being nominated for an Oscar award.

When the final nominees were announced for the Oscar’s Awards, Taylor Swift was left out of the nominations entirely since “Carolina” from Where the Crawdads Sing was not chosen.
