Samini Biography

Samini (originally known as Batman Samini), born December 22, 1981, is a Ghanaian Reggae and Dancehall recording singer from Wa, Ghana. Sammini began singing in a church choir at the age of 14, and after collaborating with another musician in 1999, she became a professional musician. “Linda” was the single that promoted the album. His musical style is a blend of high life, dance hall, reggae, and hip-hop. He refers to his musical style as “African dance hall.” Dankwasere, his debut studio album, was released in 2004; it topped the local music charts for several weeks and won two Ghana Music Awards. His first recording contract was with Ashanti International. After leaving the aforementioned record business, Samini established his own record label.

Samini has recorded seven studio albums, all of which have been commercially successful. Samini’s fame and recognition began with the publication of his first single, “Linda,” and his subsequent appearances on other artists’ successful singles. He has shared the stage with artists such as Sean Paul, Akon, Kevin Little, Shaggy, Wayne Wonder, Damian Marley, Bennie Man, Jay-Z, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Culture (Joseph Hill) (of Blessed Memory), and Steel Pulse. He collaborated with Jamaican artists Steel Pulse and Etana. He is known all over the world and has been on tour in the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Canada.

He gained international notoriety when he won the 2006 MOBO Award for “Best African Talent.” After putting out his second self-titled album, Samini won three awards at the 2007 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Samini received “African Artiste of the Year” at The Headies in February 2008. In 2008, his third studio album, Dagaati, was published. After releasing his seventh studio album, Untamed, on December 22, 2018, he won the Reggaeville 2018 Album of the Year award.

Samini was enskinned as a Chief at his hometown on December 13, 2018. The title bestowed upon him by the WaNaa (Wa’s paramount chief) is ‘Pebilii Naa,’ which translates to ‘King of the Rocks’ in the Wa language.
