Sammy Gyamfi Predicts James Quayson Will Win The By-Election In Assin North

The Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has spoken positively about the party’s chances in the upcoming Assin North by-election.

He predicted that James Gyakye Quayson, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate in Assin North, would receive the district’s votes because of his commitment to social justice issues.

According to a statement made by the NDC’s Communications Officer on Monday, June 5, 2023, the entire judgement from the Supreme Court indicated that the NDC candidate would win the by-election.

“As a discerning and objective Ghanaian, assess for yourself whether or not the Supreme Court’s decision to annul Hon. Quayson’s election was just. In all this, I am pleased that the good people of Assin North, in which their sovereignty resides, will have the chance to do justice in this matter once and for all on June 27, 2023.”

“I have no doubt in my mind, having been on the ground and interacting with many of them the past few days, that they will not falter. And that is why they will vote for Hon. James Gyakye Quayson. I have no doubt that they will vote for justice and genuine development,” he said.

The Parliament of Ghana has informed the Electoral Commission (EC) about the vacancy in the Assin North Constituency through the Clerk to Parliament, Cyril Kwabena Oteng Nsiah. The Electoral Commissioner, Jean Adukwei Mensah, stated a by-election for the district of Assin North will be held on June 27, 2023, in a press release dated May 31, 2023.

She stated that the Commission’s Assin North District Office would accept applications from Monday, June 12, 2023, to Wednesday, June 14, 2023, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Each candidate must pay a filing fee of ten thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 10,000.00).
