Shops In Accra Central To Close For 3 Days For Ga Manye’s Final Funeral Rites

In order to accommodate the final funeral rites for the late Ga Many (the Paramount Queen of Ga State), Naa Dedei Omaedru III, offices and stores in the Central Business District of the Greater Accra Region are anticipated to be closed for three days.

“From 27th to the 29th of October, we expect shops and offices in the Central Business District to remain closed,” said Naa-Yarlay Adjei Amoah, the Chief of Staff at the office of the Ga Mantse.

Naa-Yarlay Adjei Amoah, who doubles as the Secretary of the Central Funeral Planning Committee of the late Ga ManyƐ, added “We also expect them to decorate their business premises with black and red drapings”.

The various markets are also to drape all their surroundings in black and red because “we are mourning together, it’s not just the palace so we are respectfully calling on all to cooperate with us in this time of grief.”

When a delegation from the Jospong Group of Companies signed the book of condolence at the Ga Traditional Council on Friday, September 8, 2023, Mrs. Adokarley Okpoti-Paulo, Group Financial Controller for Environmental and Sanitation Group/Finance Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, made this known.

The Group sent a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cartons of mineral water, trash cans, and an unknown monetary donation to aid in the planning of the late Ga Many’s final funeral rites. When presenting the gifts, Mrs. Okpoti-Paulo explained that the intention was to comfort the elders and mourn with them over the tragic loss.

She announced that Zoomlion Ghana Ltd., a subsidiary of the group will take charge of all the sanitation-related issues regarding the funeral.

“Zoomlion will help to keep the surroundings clean during and after the funeral ceremony to ensure that the Ga State is clean at all times,” she promised.

After accepting the gifts, Nii Ahene Nunoo III praised the Group for its generosity and wished the Group’s Executive Chairman a long and healthy life. The deceased Ga Manye’s final funeral ceremonies are scheduled to take place from October 15–31, 2023. Ga Many passed away in December of last year.
