Some Celebrities Attend Protests For Money – Patience Nyarko
Ghanaian gospel singer Patience Nyarko has stated that certain celebrities participate in protests because of their narrow personal interests, while others accept financial compensation to partake in such demonstrations.
She claims that some public figures have been manipulated for political purposes by receiving money to participate in senseless protests.
In an interview with Property FM, she expressed her concern about participating in protests without being aware of the intentions of others who may be benefiting from them.
“We are all here in Ghana when someone lost their sight through injury at protests and others had accidents that were quite senseless. When others are enriching themselves through protest and you join without knowing their intentions, and after they give you just a sachet of water,” she stated.
The gospel musician, who has been encouraging her fellow musicians to focus on spreading the word of God through their music rather than their fashion sense, made these comments in response to the recent Julorbi Protest, which was attended by a large number of celebrities.
“Some people front these protests, and so unknowingly, if you attend and they spoil your eyes, you’d have wasted your eyes for nothing. Some celebrities go to protests due to their parochial interests, and others also take money in order to attend these demonstrations”, she added.
