Sophie Akuffo Responds To Gabby Otchere-Darko For Slamming Her Over Her Decision To Take Part In Protest By Pensioners

Sophia Akuffo, former chief justice has responded to the Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, prominent member of the New Patriotic Party, who said she made a mistake by joining a protest outside of the Finance Ministry with pensioner bondholders.

On February 12, 2023, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko made a series of tweets saying, “The former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, may mean well but she erred big time in her basic appreciation of the issues. Rather than asking the Govt for exemption at this late hour, why did she simply not ‘exempt’ herself from exchanging her original bond for the new one!’

“Why picket over something you don’t like (the improved offer) when you have the right not to sign up? Sorry, but I struggle to get her emotional outburst over-exemption! I hope she won’t volunteer to picket tomorrow and on the same issues when the time to sign up has expired.”

Speaking to My Joy News about Gabby’s remarks of former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, who was out protesting the Finance Ministry once again on Tuesday 14th February 2023, said, “I don’t have time for things like that. People like that are not important to me or my life, he’s a disturbance”.

She said “can call me paranoid, but I don’t care’ adding, “he doesn’t decide for me what I need to do and not do, we are talking about people, we are talking about human beings who have serve this country and has serve well and serve hard, not easy service .”

The finance minister’s DDEP has been met with criticism from the state official, who believes it is unfair that his or her colleagues will be put through this.

As long as the issue concerns the pensioners’ contractual rights, she says, she cannot remain unconcerned.
