After becoming the most streamed musician of African descent in history this week, French Montana is in a buoyant mood and duly expressed this on social media.

The Bronx native shared the information on Instagram on Monday, February 20. The list of songs that the Recording Industry Association of America has recognized as gold or multi-platinum is one of the images French posted in his article.

“That lil immigrant boy had faith,” French Montana captioned his post. “Thank you to all my fans love y’all ( DOCUMENTARY COMING SOON )….. let’s make more history … a GOAL without a plan is a wish.”

The spokesperson for French Montana revealed to HipHopDX that over the weekend, the rapper became the most streamed artist of African descent.

His breakthrough song “Unforgettable,” which featured Swae Lee, received a diamond certification last year and amassed over three billion streams globally as a result, helping him reach the milestone. French became the first artist of African descent to receive the honour thanks to the diamond certification.

French Montana is a Moroccan-American rapper born and raised in Morocco. He emigrated to the United States with his family when he was 13. He is the founder of Coke Boys Records and its predecessor Cocaine City Records.

After years of independent material, he signed a joint-venture record deal with Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Records and Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group in 2012.
