Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, a member of parliament for the Suame Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has said that the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) is more competent at running the country than the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He says that the available documents show that the NDC government did a terrible job even when there weren’t problems like the Russian-Ukrainian war, which the NPP government is now dealing with.
Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said that poor economic management on the part of former President John Dramani Mahama was to blame for Ghana’s need to import food and other necessities from its neighbors.
“Even with Covid, we’ve done 300% better than under NDC, so if those people come and talk about things like that, someone will say, “The book doesn’t lie, so the records are there.
“During the NDC’s time in power, neither Covid nor the Russian-Ukrainian war occurred, so you can look at their records from President Mills to President Mahama and compare them to Akufo- Addo’s.
“In the last three years of President Mahama’s term, 2014, 2015, and 2016, what was the GDP growth rate? Even without Covid, the Russian Ukraine war, and Covid-19, the time he was leaving office was 3.4%. Akufo-time Addo’s in office was 8.3% in 2017 and 6.9% in the following year.” he stated.
