They Thought We Were Twins- Aki Speaks On His Relationship With Pawpaw

Diminutive actor Aki, whose real name is Chinedu Ikedieze, has said his onscreen synergy with colleague, Osita ”Pawpaw” Iheme was so astounding that many people thought they were twin brothers.

During an interview with Naija Mouth-Piece, the esteemed actor conveyed that despite sharing comparable physical attributes and portraying mischievous characters on screen, he and his colleague possess distinct qualities that set them apart from one another.

Osita Iheme further expounded that there exists a common misconception among the public that they lead identical lives.

He said; “Whenever people want to see one of us [me and Osita Iheme], they would always want to see the two of us because they have that imagination of our mischievousness in the movies playing out in real life in their mindset.

“But that wasn’t a limitation for me because I am Chinedu Ikedieze, and he is Osita Iheme. As much as we play together, I have some qualities or traits that differentiate me a little bit. He has his own too that differentiates him a little bit from me when it comes to some things.

“But when it comes to the movies, people would want to see us together…Sometimes I will go for an event, and they [fans] would say, ‘Where is your brother? Why didn’t he come with you?’

“Because of our synergy in movies, people thought we are twins. So, they don’t believe that we could ever have seperate lives. They always believe that whenever you see one, you must see the other.”

Aki was in the news recently when he disclosed that he maintains a low profile for his wife and children due to his status as a public figure.

The 45-year-old diminutive actor stated that he refrains from showcasing his family on social media platforms to ensure their privacy. During a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, Ikedieze emphasized that he is mindful of the impact that public knowledge of their relationship could have on his loved ones.

The thespian said; “I have children but I decided to put them aside because I’m the celebrity, they are not. I just want them to be free because the moment everybody gets to know them, it would affect them. And I don’t want that.

“So, I hide them even my wife apart from our wedding announcement that I made, so that she can go to market, do every other thing without much ado.”

Aki is a Nigerian actor, entrepreneur, and investor who has gained widespread recognition for his work in the film industry. He is particularly renowned for his role alongside Osita Iheme in numerous movies, following their breakthrough as a duo in the 2002 film Aki na Ukwa.
