Thomas Partey Still On The Sidelines & Doubtful For Everton Clash

According to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, Thomas Partey may not play against Everton on Thursday because of a thigh injury.

Prior to his late appearance in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Leicester City last weekend, Partey had missed two previous games. Partey was able to participate in that game, but Arteta has been concerned because Partey hasn’t been able to practice much.

“He hasn’t obviously trained much, he’s only had a session and he will train today, so it is what it is,” Arteta said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday. “He was out for a few weeks and he needs to get rhythm.”

Thomas Partey picked up an injury after receiving a blow to the ribs during the opening 45 minutes of Friday night’s FA Cup loss to Manchester City.

Partey’s absence in the second half surely had a significant impact on the tie, as the Gunners lost the game 1-0. Partey had been playing with the discomfort until eventually needing to be replaced at the break, according to Arteta, who spoke with reporters following the game.

Given how crucial Partey is to the squad, his could potentially injury have a significant negative impact on Arsenal’s prospects of winning the title this year.

In the same vein, Alan Shearer, who won the league with Blackburn in 1995, may help Arsenal win their first championship since 2004 as a result of the outcome at Villa.

‘I know Thomas Partey is out injured at the moment, but if Arsenal can get him back and then have a little bit of luck between now and the end of the season with keeping their key players fit, I think they will do it, I really do,’ he told Match of the Day.

‘Sometimes you just need to find a way to win and they did that in the second half. Based on the second half, Arsenal deserved the three points today. But they didn’t just get the win, they sent a message out to Manchester City too.’
