Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says Thomas Partey could be out for several weeks after he reported picking up a muscular injury during training.
Thomas Partey has been a consistent starter in all three of Arsenal’s opening Premier League fixtures this season, with manager Mikel Arteta deploying him in the right-back position. He, however, missed Arsenal’s dramatic 3-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday, September 4, 2023 at the Emirates Stadium.
“According to his club, the player picked up an injury in training and could be on the sidelines for a while, however, the Black Stars medical teams is monitoring the situation.”
Another statement added: “He sustained a groin injury during training on Thursday, August 31, 2023. He is currently unavailable, as Club Doctors predict he’s likely to be out for a couple of weeks.”
Arteta then confirmed the absence before the match on Sunday, saying: “We need a few more tests – he felt something in training.”
A Daily Mail report on Monday claims that Partey has suffered a groin injury and could be out for at least six weeks. It is expected that he will be available for selection after the October international break.
