Athletes representing 52 nations have gathered in Ghana to participate in the African Games. This three-week-long sporting event not only showcases the talent and skill of these athletes but also serves as a qualification process for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. Previously known as the All-African Games, this competition takes place every four years, just a year before the Olympics.

This year’s edition is particularly special as it brings together participants from all 52 countries, truly making it a pan-African sporting extravaganza.

With a total of 5,000 athletes competing across 30 different disciplines, this edition offers more opportunities for athletes to showcase their abilities and set new records compared to the 2019 African Games, which featured 26 sports.

In comparison, the 2015 Games had 22 disciplines. The events are spread across various cities in Ghana, including Accra, Cape Coast, and Kumasi, with each city hosting different competitions.

The tournament commenced with table tennis, where Egypt emerged victorious in both the men’s and women’s singles events, securing the gold medals. Additionally, the football competition began on Thursday, adding to the excitement. The 13th African Games will conclude on March 23, 2024, marking the end of this thrilling sporting spectacle.
