Police Officer Killed In Bullion Van Robbery at Ablekuma

A police officer was shot and murdered during a horrifying daylight robbery attack on a bullion van in the Accra suburb of Ablekuma Fanmilk.

The robbers and the two police officers protecting the bullion van in which the money was being transported engaged in a gunfire shootout, resulting in the death of one officer.

A CCTV footage from the scene showing how the incident happened has been uploaded onto social media. As a result of his wounds, the police officer died at the scene.

Reports indicate that the attack took place after the bullion van stopped at a fuel station, probably to refuel. It was at this time that the vehicle was allegedly attacked. Thankfully, the van’s driver was able to get out of there unharmed.

The Ghana Police Service has begun a manhunt for the suspected robbers responsible for the attack on the bullion van and the police officer’s death.

In light of their ongoing investigation, the police have issued the following statement:

“The Police are on a manhunt to arrest a gang of four robbers who attacked a bullion van at Ablekuma Fanmilk, a suburb of Accra, and shot the police escort, who has unfortunately passed on. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family of our deceased colleague in particular and all personnel of the Police Service in general. We wish to assure the public that we will surely get the robbers arrested to face justice.”
