The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jr., has criticised of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over his inability to improve the country’s economic situation.
He claims that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who claims to have attended Harvard and earned a doctorate in economics, has been unable to solve the country’s current economic crisis.
“In whatever we do, it is the will of the people which must matter; in whatever we do, it is that taxi driver, that nikanika (grinding machine) operator, the chopbar operator; it is their will and their interest which must move us forward, not the interest of some God-forseeking academics whose only boast is that they went to Harvard and they have a doctorate in economics, and so on nonsense,” he said.
In response to the falling value of the cedi, Pratt Jr. stated that all of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s prestigious educational institutions and degrees were unable to prevent the cedi’s depreciation.
“Why? All of those universities and all those degrees have not prevented the cedi from losing value from 4.20 p to $1. Today we are exchanging the cedi for GHS12 to $1. No Harvard degree managed to stop this. So don’t waste our years with your Harvard degree. We don’t care,” he added.
