Wontumi Threatens To Sue Kennedy Agyapong

Bernard Antwi Bosiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), commonly referred to as Chairman Wontumi, says he will let the police arrest flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong if he threatens him again during the campaign.

During a press conference held in Kumasi, Mr. Bosiako stated that Kennedy Agyapong is well-known for making threats and following through on them.

“Those terms, such as showdown and the others, need to stop. “I will have you arrested if you threaten me again… It’s advice I’m giving you because this is the same thing you did, and Ahmed Suale and other people got killed…” Chairman Wontumi said.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman further advised the Assin Central lawmaker to prioritise his campaign efforts towards pointing out his potential achievements as a flagbearer rather than engaging in conflicting tactics against his competitors.

During his address at the Kumasi Showdown event on September 30, 2023, Kennedy Agyapong expressed his intention to stop using a gentle approach, just like his former rival, Alan Kyerematen. Kyerematen, who recently resigned from the NPP due to instances of intimidation and unfair treatment during the party’s flagbearership race. “I’m not like Alan, who is gentle; let them try.”

Agyapong also revealed that he had received offers to run as Bawumia’s running mate, in addition to large sums of money to withdraw from the race. He made it clear that he had turned down every one of those offers and that he was still determined to be the NPP’s flagbearer.
