Yaa Pono Diss Sarkodie In His Latest Single ‘Yard’

Ghanaian rapper, Yaa Pono, has just dropped a new song titled ‘Yard’, which is widely understood to be a diss song directed at the multi-award-winning Sarkodie. Some musicians have also shared their views on the track.

Yard has become a topic of discussion because Sarkodie has recently been in the spotlight for appearing on a cover version of Bob Marley’s ‘Stir It Up’ that has been met with mixed reactions.

Among those who teased Sarkodie is fellow artiste Shatta Wale, who said Sarkodie had featured a ghost.

In his latest single, Yaa Pono implied that it would be a waste of time to eliminate him from the list of Tema-based rappers. Throughout the song, Pono boasted about his abilities and said that he is better than other rappers.

In this rap delivered in Twi, he proclaimed himself the king of rap music, and bragged about how much better he is than other rappers. He also makes fun of Sarkodie by asking, “Since when did we feature the dead?” in reference to his cover version of Bob Marley’s ‘Stir It Up.’

Listen to the song here.

What motivated Yaa Pono to drop this track remains a mystery. Although the rapper and Sarkodie have worked together on tracks in the past, this is not the first time he has made a song to diss at his fellow musician.
