‘You Should Be Ashamed Of Yourself’- Bridget Otoo Blasts IGP Over Cocaine Saga

Bridget Otoo went after the Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare after the Ghana Police Service made a statement concerning an audio recording of a man who claims police officers attempted to extort money from him by planting what they believed to be illegal drugs in his car.

Bridget urged Ghanaians not to believe the police’s version of the story about an audio recording of a victim’s allegations Of Police Unprofessional Behavior, She claims that the cops often place drugs in people’s vehicles.

“Your men are going round planting cocaine and weed in Peoples’s cars, and instead of dealing with it, you care about the word ‘some’!!, Don’t take the word of @GhPoliceService over the victim. IGP should be ashamed of himself. You know the victim, your men have spoken to the victim,” she said.

In the meantime, the Ghana Police said in a statement that they had contacted the Narcotics Control Commission and the Ghana Armed Forces as part of their investigations. However, both organizations have denied knowing about the occurrence, which the Ghana Police said was part of their investigation.

According to a press statement that was released on the 17th of January 2023, initial inspections at the police stations that were named in the tape, which were East Legon and Accra Central Police Stations, indicated that no such complaint had been lodged.

The press release follows an audio recording circulating the web, made by one Dr. Patrick Asiedu, alleging that some 4 policemen stopped him on a road leading to the motorway from Trassaco. According to him, one of the policemen asked him out of his car so they can check for illegal substances.

Dr. Patrick went on to say that the police officers upon searching the car brought out substances suspected to be wee and cocaine.
“…look under your seat… what is this wee and cocaine doing under there?” said one of the police officers in the audio.

“….. cocaine and wee in my car? I have no idea how it got there” Dr. Patrick vehemently debunks.

“if that’s the case, then you have to pay 20,000… otherwise we have to send you to the station…. and after murder, drugs is the second highest degree offence, so you can spend 15 years in jail…. so pay 20,000 and we will allow you to go.” the police officer allegedly said.
