Zack Orji Is Not Dead- AGN President, Emeka Rollas Reacts To Rumours

There has been a proliferation of rumours on various social media platforms regarding the demise of veteran actor Zack Orji.

This has prompted Emeka Rollas, the President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), to issue a statement refuting these reports while clarifying that the actor is very much alive.

Promptly, Rollas released an official statement on behalf of the actor and the association, emphasizing that the renowned movie star is alive and urging individuals spreading false information to cease their actions.

He wrote: “Mr Zack Orji is alive. Please ignore mischief makers who enjoy circulating fake news.

“This is to show how wicked some people can be. It is totally unacceptable.

“He will not die but live to declare the good works of God in Jesus’ name.”

Recall that Zack Orji underwent brain surgery in January 2024.

On December 31, 2023, a video of Zack Orji, in critical condition at the hospital circulated widely. Reports revealed that the esteemed actor had been rushed to the hospital two days prior after collapsing in the toilet following weeks of feeling unwell.

Subsequent updates disclosed that he had been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of the National Hospital in Abuja, where his condition was stabilized in preparation for brain surgery on New Year’s Day.

Despite medical advice, his family opted to move him from the National Hospital in Abuja to a private facility for further treatment.

This decision was later confirmed by Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, who urged Nigerians to support the ailing Nollywood actor, Zack Orji, revealing that he underwent brain surgery on January 1, 2024.

Musawa made this appeal during her visit to the actor at the private hospital in Wuse, Abuja, where the surgery took place.

The details were outlined in a statement by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Nneka Anibeze, which was posted on Facebook.

Expressing solidarity with the actor’s family, Musawa praised him as a national treasure and expressed optimism about his recovery.

“He is one of the individuals who laid the foundation for Nollywood and the film industry in Nigeria but now he is sick and the least we can do as an administration is to give him all the necessary support through prayers and otherwise to ensure that we save his life.

“This will also propel the administration to look at the welfare of artists and others in the industry who have not only given their time and energy but people like Zack Orji who have become national treasures,” she stated.
