Ablakwa Describes Akufo-Addo As The Most Arrogant Beggar In The World

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, deserves the title of “the world’s most arrogant beggar”.

The North Tongu member of parliament based his argument on what the president said in his March 8 State of the Nation address to the diplomatic community. Ablakwa was surprised when the president said that some diplomats were using their freedom of speech to say things that their Ghanaian colleagues could not say in their home countries.

In his initial comments, which he shared on Facebook following the State of the Nation’s Address, the ranking member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament wrote: “President Akufo-Addo’s unhinged attack on the diplomatic corps during his message on the state of the nation is most repugnant, illogical, and intolerant”.

“He cannot accuse diplomats of joining the national discourse when he was the very person who invited them by begging for debt cancellation after grossly mismanaging the Ghanaian economy. President Akufo-Addo must win the prize for the world’s most arrogant beggar.”

Ablakwa described the president’s behaviour as begging for western nations’ benevolence while rejecting their advice on reducing and cutting “extravagant spending,” as the German Ambassador recently advised.
