Benita Biney was honoured with the Heroes Young Talent Award at the just-ended Adinkra Heroes Night Excellence Awards ceremony, which took place in New York, USA, on November 25.
The purpose of the awards programme is to recognise the achievements of Ghanaians and Ghanaian associations outside of Ghana who have made significant contributions to their home country. Several well-known figures were recognised in a variety of categories, including sports, entertainment, entrepreneurship, and health.
During the course of the evening, attendees were entertained by a selection of Ghanaian artistes, including the Afrobeat act KiDi and Prince Bright of Bukbak fame.
One of Ghana’s most popular musicians, KiDi, returned to the spotlight after an absence from music because of health issues. In February, the musician withdrew from all public appearances and had to cancel his Golden Boy North American tour due to his health.
There was plenty of speculation about his health after his sudden absence, with some claiming he was under close medical observation for a possible stroke. Nevertheless, his management team quickly dismissed these rumours.
