AFCON 2023: We Committed Silly Mistakes – Kudus on Black Stars Draw Against Egypt

Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus expressed his disappointment after the Black Stars’ 2-2 draw against Egypt in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Kudus, who scored both goals for Ghana, believed that the team deserved a better outcome and attributed the draw to “silly mistakes” made by the team.

Kudus opened the scoring for Ghana in the first half, but defensive errors led to Egypt equalizing on two occasions. Omar Marmoush capitalized on a back pass, and Mostafa Mohamed took advantage of another defensive lapse, denying Ghana the opportunity to secure all three points.

Speaking about the match, Kudus, who was also named the Man of the Match, expressed frustration over the team’s failure to capitalize on their leads. He highlighted the importance of learning from the mistakes made during the game.

“We got a point today,” said Kudus. “I felt we deserved more because the goals [Egypt] scored were from some silly mistakes from us which we need to learn from.”

With the draw against Egypt, Ghana currently has one point from two games in Group B, having previously lost to Cape Verde.
