Are You Not My Friend? Bryan Acheampong Asks Ato Forson After He Grilled Him At Appointment Committee

Bryan Acheampong, the incoming Minister of Food and Agriculture, could barely contain his shocked expression when Minority Leader Dr. Ato Forson interrogated him thoroughly at the Appointments Committee of parliament.

On Monday, February 20, 2023, during his vetting, Bryan Acheampong, the minister-designate who seems to have a strong relationship with the Leader, inquired why Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson asked him questions about his credibility.

When asked if, if given the chance, he could convince Ghanaians of his credibility, Bryan Acheampong answered “But Ato you are my friend. Today, you don’t trust me? You should be testifying on my credibility. Ei Ato!”.

In response to the laughter that occurred in the vetting room, Ato Forson remarked that he was merely doing his job. “We are here for the people of Ghana, so we have to ask the questions that are needed.” he said”.

While this was going on, Bryan Acheampong said that the report from the commission of inquiry that looked into the violence in the Ayawso West Wuogon by-election was unfair to him.

The former Minister of State for National Security claims that the Emil Short Commission was biased against him when it ultimately blamed him for the violence and recommended that he be disciplined.

The candidate stated during his vetting at parliament’s Appointment Committee meeting that he did not authorize the action by several National Security SWAT officers that resulted in some injuries on lawmakers during the January 31, 2019 event.
