Assin North Election: John Dumelo Plots Lydia Alhassan Downfall In 2024 Election
John Dumelo has confidently thumped his chest ahead of the 2024 election by warning his main contender Lydia Seyram Alhassan that she is going down in a similar fashion as the NPP candidate in the Assin North by-election
The celebrated actor and lawmaker took to Twitter to celebrate the victory of James Gyakye Quayson, the candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who emerged victorious in the by-election that took place in Assin North on Tuesday, receiving 17,245 of the total valid votes cast.
The official results were released by the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC). He defeated Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) to reclaim the seat.
The difference between his votes and the results in 2020 is greater than 1,300. Mr Gyakye Quayson won that election with 17,498 votes, defeating his opponent, Abena Durowaa Mensah of the NPP, who received 14,193 votes.
As a result of a ruling from the Supreme Court in 2020, Mr Gyakye Quayson’s election to Parliament was ruled to be unlawful, but he will still be allowed to assume his position.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Director of IT, Eric Ntori speaking at the collation centre to Joy News said the NPP has lost it and that the party will do its homework.
“Things didn’t go well for us,” he said and added the party will go back to the drawing board and come back in 2024 and “snatch” the seat back for the NPP.
While basking in the euphoria of the moment, John Dumelo warned Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who is presently the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon that she is next to fall akin to what happened in the North Assin North constituency.
Lydia Seyram Alhassan, your downfall is next!!!!!
