Ayawaso West Wuogon: Boost For John Dumelo As Fred Nuamah Withdraws

Ghana Movie Awards founder, Fred Nuamah has withdrawn from the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary race of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to make way for his friend John Dumelo.

Fred, who engaged Dumelo in a seeming war of words after it emerged that he was contesting in the same constituency as his bosom friend, claimed in an official letter to the NDC that his decision to withdraw came about as a result of in-depth discussions with important stakeholders and independent of outside pressure.

In his letter, he firmly stated:

“I firmly believe that the NDC must present a unified front for the 2024 general elections. As a dedicated member of the NDC, I prioritize the party’s unity and the President John Mahama project aimed at rescuing our country. I wholeheartedly endorse and throw my support behind my good friend and brother, Mr John Dumelo, to be the parliamentary candidate for the NDC in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency. I urge all my supporters across all levels of the party in the constituency to rally behind John Dumelo and provide him with needed support. Together, with a renewed sense of togetherness, we can secure victory in the 2024 elections and uplift our nation from its current state.”

In one of a series of publications shared by Tru News Report detailing the impasses between the two over the NDC parliamentary seat in the Ayawaso West Wuogon slot, John Dumelo denied allegations that he encouraged Fred Nuamah to run for the primaries at his expense.

He claims that Fred Nuamah picked up the forms for the 2024 elections, knowing full well that he would be running again to represent the constituency.

In an interview on United Showbiz on UTV, available to Tru News Report, Dumelo disputed Fred Nuamah’s allegations that Dumelo had failed to tell Nuamah about his “second coming” and receive his blessing.

John Dumelo said, “Two months ago he called me and said he had heard of my comeback and so he was ready to support my bid to come back. He came to my birthday on February 3, and later in the evening he released his flyer.”

John Dumelo claims that Fred Nuamah sent him a lengthy message detailing the reasons he was also submitting a bid to contest.

“After that he sent me long text message and i said fred never told you im not coming back then he went to pick a form so which blessings did i give, I never gave him my blessings and I never told him in the face that ‘Fred I am not coming back (to Ayawaso) so you can go there’. I never said it, never in any conversation whatsoever,” he said.

“I think this is a betrayal and a stab in the back, especially for someone I’ve known for more than 20 years. he will lost the primaries because if you speak to people they always say they want me to come back and continue the good work hes doing, I didn’t want to speak about this but I needed to clear the air after his statements… he is a liar, and doesnt deserve my blesses” John Dumelo added.
