Bernard Arnault: CEO Of Louis Vuitton, Other Luxury Brands Overtakes Elon Musk As World Richest Man

Bernard Arnault, the Chief Executive Officer and chairman of LVMH, has surpassed Elon Musk to become the world’s richest man in 2024.

Forbes has reported a significant increase in Arnault and his family’s wealth, totaling $207.8 billion, outpacing Elon Musk’s net worth of $204.5 billion.

Over the span of four decades, the 74-year-old Arnault meticulously built an empire by acquiring and nurturing renowned brands such as Louis Vuitton, Sephora, Dior, Bulgari, TAG Heuer, and Dom Pérignon.

LVMH’s acquisition of Tiffany & Co. for $15.8 billion in 2021 is considered one of the most significant luxury brand purchases in history.

In April 2022, LVMH made history as the first European business to achieve a market capitalization exceeding $500 billion. Arnault briefly claimed the top position as the world’s richest person in December 2022.

Arnault’s initial investment in Christian Dior in 1984 was funded by the modest fortune his father accumulated in the construction industry. In a strategic move reminiscent of the TV series “Succession,” Arnault has involved his five children in LVMH, ensuring a smooth transition.
