Bob Marley’s Grandson Joseph ‘Jo’ Mersa Dies at 31

Joseph ‘Jo’ Mersa Marley, a reggae performer and grandson of Bob Marley, has died.

According to reports, he was discovered unconscious in a vehicle in Florida, United States.

TIDAL tweeted a homage to Marley, who followed in the footsteps of his grandpa by becoming a reggae singer in his own right. “Forever in our hearts. “RIP, Jo Mersa Marley,” the streaming service stated.

Joseph Marley, son of Stephen Marley, studied audio engineering at Miami Dade College after growing up in Jamaica.

He released an EP titled “Comfortable,” which had songs like “Rock and Swing” and “Bogus,” among others.

He released “Eternal,” his second EP, in 2017 and “Burn It Down” in 2016.

“I give thanks for being a Marley,” he told entertainment site The Pier in 2014. “I’m very appreciative and thankful that I am born where I am born and put where God has decided. I’m very thankful about it and proud.”

His grandfather died of melanoma at 36 after having 11 children, including Joseph’s father, Stephen, and his uncle, reggae singer Ziggy Marley.
