Bobrisky Arrested Over Alleged Naira Abuse

The EFCC has reportedly arrested cross-dresser, Bobrisky, for allegedly ‘abusing’ the naria currency.

According to the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, Bobrisky was apprehended at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State on Wednesday. Oyewale further mentioned that Bobrisky will face legal charges shortly.

Oyewale said: “Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command.

“We arrested him for alleged abuse of Naira notes, spraying of Naira notes, and currency mutilation, among others.

“We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the Naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, but he will definitely be charged to court soon.”

This incident occurred just two months following the conviction of Nigerian actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin for spraying and trampling on fresh naira notes during an event.

She was apprehended on February 1, 2023, after a video surfaced on social media showing her spraying the new Naira notes.

On February 2, 2024, the presiding judge, Chukwujekwu Aneke, handed down a six-month prison sentence with the alternative of paying a N300,000 fine, as stated by Mr. Oyewale, the EFCC’s spokesperson.
