Empress Gifty Biography

Empress Gifty (formerly Empress Gifty Osei) is a fashionista and gospel vocalist from Ghana. She is the first Gospel artiste in Ghana to reach one million followers on Instagram.

Empress was born to families from Ghana’s Central and Western regions, the Oppong and Annan families. She began her education in Tema at Mantey Din Primary School and Oninku Junior Secondary School. She continued her education at a fashion school in Tema and, after graduating, founded her own fashion school in Tema where she educated students in fashion and lifestyle.

At the 2018 National Gospel Music Awards, she was recognised as the artiste of the year. In 2019, she topped the list of nominees for the Kenyan Maranatha Global Worship Music Awards.

In 2012, she won VGMA Gospel Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, as well as 4syte Gospel Music Video of the Year in 2021.

She annually hosts the Resurrection Effect Concert.

She has two children with her husband, the Ghanaian politician Hopeson Adorye.

Music Career

Empress Gifty collaborates with South African artists Opanka and Zaza Mohkheti. Her most popular compositions include “Aseda,” “Fefeefe,” “Epikye,” “Adensiedie,” “Adom,” “Jesus Over Do,” “Jesus Be Too Much,” “Odiyompo,” and “Eye Woa.”
