‘Failed’ Ghanaian Boxer Threatens to Beat Up Strongman

Former Ghanaian boxer Emmanuel Sandyman, popularly known as Firestick, has clashed with one of Ghana’s foremost rappers, Strongman, on Twitter.

Firestick was heard telling Strongman that wherever they meet, he will beat the hell out of him for daring to insult him during a discussion on Twitter Space about how Ghanaian artistes have been lampooned by their own fans juxtaposed with the incredible achievements of their Nigerian counterparts.

The subject under discussion reached a boiling point, which saw the aforementioned personalities go head-to-head in a verbal war. According to Firestick, he would love for Strongman to show him the same energy he was exhibiting on Twitter in the virtual world. The forum saw other notable Ghanaian artistes and stakeholders join to share their opinions about how ‘Agenda Boys’ continue to drag Ghanaian artistes for not making enough to rival or surpass their Nigerian artistes hinged on the recent feat of Asake.

The Nigerian musician has achieved a remarkable feat by selling out the 20,000-seater capacity O2 Arena in London, joining the ranks of other African artists such as Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. The concert, which took place on August 20, 2023, marked Asake’s debut performance at the prestigious indoor arena, which is one of the largest in the world.

The achievement has been widely celebrated by fans on social media, but it has also reignited the longstanding rivalry between Ghanaian and Nigerian artistes. Asake’s success has prompted criticism from some netizens who have accused Ghanaian artists of lagging behind their Nigerian counterparts.

This has led to some Ghanaian celebrities speaking out against the pressure being mounted on their industry. Some stakeholders in the Ghanaian music industry have also alleged that Nigerian stakeholders are sabotaging their efforts to share in the global Afrobeat success.

These allegations have sparked responses from Nigerian industry stakeholders on social media. Despite the comparisons being made between Ghana and Nigeria, it is important to acknowledge the achievements of all African artists and celebrate their contributions to the music industry.

To this end, when the issue came up for discussion, Firestick labeled some Ghanian artists, including Strongman as ‘Banku’ which is why they are not making waves on the global stage prompting a sharp rebuttal from Strongman which soon metamorphosed into chaos between them.
