Fred Nuamah Still Insists That John Dumelo Told Him He Would Not Contest

Fred Nuamah has broken his silence on the Ayawaso West Parliamentary Brouhaha and the state of his friendship with longtime colleague John Dumelo.

When asked if running against John Dumelo for the Ayawaso West seat on the National Democratic Congress ticket had affected his bond with him, Fred Nuamah said that Dumelo is not his friend but a brother, and that he would not let politics come between them.

The movie producer-turned-politician has said that he wants to run for the constituency’s parliamentary seat in the NDC primaries on May 13. He hopes to help the party win the seat in the 2024 general election.

Since Fred Nuamah declared he will run for parliament for the NDC against his longtime buddy John Dumelo, the two have been doing media interviews regularly, and it seems their friendship, which has lasted over two decades, may have struck rock bottom.

During a discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, March 18th, Fred Nuamah explains why he picked up nomination papers for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency seat in the primaries.

On the same platform last week, Dumelo had called fred a “liar” and disputed the allegations. Instead, Dumelo claimed, his friend had promised to support him candidature in the 2020 general elections for the seat he nearly lost. “I never told Fred that I am not contesting in Ayawaso West Wuogon,” Dumelo stated.

However, Nuamah insisted Two years ago, Dumelo informed him of his intentions of running for the Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL) seat instead.

Fred Nuamah said, “John is not my friend, he is my brother and I would never allow politics to come between us or to damage our fraternity. Aside from John being a brother to me, the NDC is one party, therefore this dispute between John and I, will be sorted at home and for all you know, the problem may have already been resolved.”
