Hilda Baci Angers Ghanaians with Judgement On Ghana versus Nigeria Jollof War

Hilda Baci, the former Guinness record holder for the longest cooking marathon, recently shared her opinion on the ongoing debate about who makes the best Jollof rice between Ghana and Nigeria.

The renowned Nigerian celebrity chef firmly declared her country’s Jollof as the ultimate winner while expressing her disappointment with Ghana’s version, claiming it lacks flavour.

During a podcast interview, Hilda Baci confidently stated that she has personally sampled Ghana’s Jollof and can attest that it does not match the excellence of Nigerian Jollof.

“Nigerian jollof is actually better than Ghana Jollof, I have been to Ghana, I have eaten their jollof, I have done a competition with a Ghanaian chef that made his best Jollof and I have seen the recipe,” she said.

Hilda Baci continued that Ghana Jollof has no flavour, as she said, ” but with Nigerian Jollof, Nigerians don’t play with flavour building.” The comments have once again reignited the Jollof war on social media as Ghanaians trash Hilda’s opinion.

Most Ghanaians were infuriated by her stance on this delicate matter, prompting them to express their discontent openly. Amidst the multitude of comments from dissatisfied Ghanaians, a user on social media remarked, “Why are ppl confusing an ability to cook for long hours with an ability to cook good food? The two aren’t the same.

Another added: “From a person who cooks a small pot of stew with 6 maggi…. Chaiiii Chef gbeee massa komot”.

Alan Fisher, an Irish restaurant owner and chef based in Japan, has broken the world record for the longest cooking marathon previously held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci.

Clocking in at an impressive 119 hours and 57 minutes, Alan surpassed Baci’s record by over 24 hours.

Not only that, but he also claimed the title for the longest baking marathon with a time of 47 hours and 21 minutes, beating the previous record holder, Wendy Sandner from the USA.

What’s even more remarkable is that Alan took on both challenges consecutively, spending over 160 hours in the kitchen with just a day’s rest in between. Despite facing various obstacles, such as back pain from mixing dough by hand, Alan persevered and emerged victorious.

Towards the end of the longest cooking marathon (individual) record attempt, Alan had to endure fatigue and sleepiness.

He said: “I peeled roughly 300 kg of potatoes during the cooking marathon. For the first few days, I would look forward to this each evening as it gave me a chance to sit down.”
