We’ll Review All Evidence Before Confirming Record – Guinness World Record Reacts To Baci’s Record

On Monday, the Guinness World Record explained why it was yet to ratify Nigerian chef Hilda Baci’s new record for the most hours spent cooking.

Baci is trending all over social media smashed the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual”.

On Monday morning, the cook broke the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes held by Lata Tondon, who is no longer the Guinness World Record holder. On Thursday at precisely 4 o’clock in the afternoon, Hilda started the competition by turning on her cooker.

As the first person ever to spend so much time cooking, Hilda continues to cook for 96 hours despite having already shattered the previous record.

However, Guinness World Records announced that it would first analyze all the proof before formally confirming the record. AlexanderDGreat on Twitter questioned why Hilda’s new record was not mentioned by Guinness World Records.

“Why is Guinness World Record not showing or talking about Hilda‘s cook-a-ton? Can’t see anything on their pages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube),” he tweeted.

In response, GWR said; “We are aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record”.

Who is Hilda Effiong Bassey?

Baci was born on September 20, 1996, in Akwa Ibom State. She is a multi-talented Nigerian TV producer, actress, head cook at FoodbyHilda and entrepreneur who started her journey from grass to grace.

The cook-a-thon began on May 11 and ended on May 14. It featured a live-streamed show on multiple social media channels where Hilda made over 250 recipes and ultimately gave her the bragging right as far as the world record is concerned.

According to Hilda;

The journey to the cook-a-thon started five years ago. It is one of my biggest aspirations and I am glad that I took the bold step to embark on this adventure. I have taken time to prepare for this psychologically and I am proud to finally take on this challenge.

The cook-a-thon is also an opportunity to tell some of the positive stories that come from Africa through the meals that we make.

This attempt is also proof of the strength young people can exhibit with the right platform and support. I look forward to receiving support from people across the world to achieve this feat.
