How Is Bawumia Ghana’s Best Vice President If He’s Not Responsible For Anything – Randy Abbey Questions

Host of Good Morning Ghana, Dr. Randy Abbey has joined a chorus of prominent Ghanaians in challenging the notion that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia bears no responsibility for the current state of Ghana’s economy.

Dr. Abbey on the Tuesday, February 6, 2024, edition of his program, raised pertinent questions about the credibility of labeling Dr. Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as the best vice president Ghana has ever had if he is perceived to have no significant influence within the government.

Expressing skepticism, Dr. Abbey questioned how someone who allegedly lacks influence, responsibility, and decision-making power could be lauded as the best vice president. He suggested that such praise might be based solely on Dr. Bawumia’s silence rather than tangible achievements.

“For a person (Bawumia) who doesn’t have any influence at all, cannot influence anything, is not in charge of anything, is not responsible for anything.

“How is the person adjudged the best vice president ever? Maybe for being silent,” Dr Abbey said.

The seasoned broadcaster made these remarks while responding to Kofi Bentil’s endorsement of Vice President Bawumia for the 2024 presidential election.

Bentil, the vice president of IMANI Africa, outlined various reasons supporting Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy, citing his seven-year tenure as vice president to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Drawing parallels with former President John Dramani Mahama, Bentil advocated for giving Dr. Bawumia a fair assessment, highlighting the principle of fair hearing.

He emphasized the limitations of the vice president’s role, characterizing it as primarily advisory and lacking substantial decision-making authority.

Dr. Abbey’s remarks underscore a growing debate over Dr. Bawumia’s performance and influence within the government, challenging prevailing narratives about his effectiveness as vice president.
